Apple iPad Pro 10.5 Review: Overview & Price
Apples iPad Pro 2017 was released on the 5th June 2017 and was Apple’s latest tablet up until very recently.
We personally think that this is one of the best tablets money can buy right now as it offers the perfect balance between media, performance and even a decent camera.

Apple is seriously wanting you to replace your computer or laptop with this iPad, it is packed with everything you would ever need, but remember its just an iPad!
To buy the Apple iPad Pro, you’re looking at £600 here in the UK this tablet offers thinner bezels and more powerful speakers to enhance the overall media experience.
This is by no means a cheap Apple iPad Pro, however the value for money here is great, we will let you decide whether this is worth your cash.
So let’s get to it…
Apple iPad Pro 10.5 Review: Design & Display
The first thing you will notice when looking at this iPad is that it is big!
The new size iPad comes in either 10.5” or 12.9” and also has a lot thinner bezels especially on the sides of the tablet.
The reason behind the new sizes is that Apple says that they have given the tablet a full-sized keyboard, however, the keyboard isn’t quite full-sized and is still slightly cramped.
The iPad Pro looks a lot like the iPad 9.7” with its metallic rectangular body and it feels exceptionally well build.
Weighing in at 469g this tablet is extremely light and it won’t ache your arms or weigh your bag down when you’re carrying it around.

- iOS 11 makes iPad more powerful, personal, and intelligent than ever
There is not a lot to see on the exterior apart from the slightly raised camera which is located in the top right corner of the iPad.
We expected this to be flush but seeing as though Apple used the same lens as the iPhone 7 that excuses the raised lens, it didn’t bother us so much.

One thing we do love about this iPad is that it is extremely thin, its incredible how much firepower they can pack into an iPad whilst still maintaining a thin, slick design.
This is mainly due to the fact the Apple recognise that most people who buy this device will be purchasing some sort of protective case or attaching an Apple Keyboard.
We will talk more on the keyboard later but it is definitely wise to invest in a case of some sort for this device as it will make it a lot easier to stand the iPad up on its own.
This comes in handy when watching a cooking guide in the kitchen as you will need two free hands and the iPad without a case or stand cannot support itself.
Down the bottom of the iPad, you will find the home button and fingerprint sensor which is extremely responsive and sharp, a lot better than the sensor used in the iPad 9.7”.
The display is undoubtedly the most important feature when purchasing a tablet, whether you’re going to be using it for media or work.
This is where Apple has really pushed the boat out and put everything they have into this iPad, it is a lot brighter than previous generation iPads and offers a much better overall experience when using the tablet.
The resolution is 1668 x 2224 which gives a PPI of 264.
This new iPad also has an anti-reflective coat on the display making it a lot easier to see the display when in awkward lighting conditions.
One of the main benefits of this iPad overs previous generations is Pro-Motion, which gives it a 120hz refresh rate!
This basically means that the pixels refresh 120 times every second and allow extremely responsive and smooth scrolling through media and navigating around the iPad.
This probably won’t mean a lot to the average user, but if you’re an artist and are going to be using the Apple Pencil then this refresh rate means it feels so much closer to using a real pen or pencil and can make for some incredible pieces of art.
The display in this iPad is second to none and is simply amazing, it has a full P3 gamut and extremely accurate colours due to features like true-tone, which will adjust the colour temperature based on the room lighting.
Overall the screen quality on this iPad is fantastic and watching YouTube and Netflix was a dream, based on display alone this iPad is definitely easy to recommend as its one of the best we have ever seen in an iPad.
Apple iPad Pro 10.5 Review: Performance
Equally as important as the display is the performance, as what good is a fantastic display without a strong performance keep things running smoothly.
The inside of the iPad is just as impressive as the outside as it has an Apple A10x chip, 4GB of RAM (double last years) and options of 64GB, 256GB or a whopping 512GB of internal storage.
Bear in mind that this storage is not expandable so if you are going to be using the iPad for work purposes as most people do when they opt for the Pro model you might want to consider a higher storage capacity than you would usually choose.
Considering that it is around £600 to buy the Apple iPad Pro, the specs here are very impressive, however, we would expect nothing less though for this price bracket.
Especially when the likes of the Samsung Galaxy Tab S4 is the competition and has much of the same specs and features and more.
An impressive upgrade from the previous iPad 9.7” is the new quad-speaker setup, you will find a speaker on all four sides of the tablet giving it a much better sound quality when gaming and watching videos.
They will vibrate the whole tablet when left on a flat surface with the volume cranked up.
As previously mentioned Apple is trying to convert people who traditionally use laptops to switch over onto their iPads due to their practicality, you can put it in your bag and take it anywhere you like.

The keyboard works extremely well with this tablet and just attaches to the side then folds around like a case, making it super easy and convenient to turn your tablet into a laptop-like device.
The keyboard coupled with the Apple Pencil will really optimise this tablet for work and allow you to have everything that a laptop would offer but just more compact.
That being said it’s easy to think that these will take over conventional laptops but what needs to be remembered is that this is still a tablet, and always will be.
That being said the features on this iPad certainly make it easy to work from it and it actually feels just like a laptop but lighter and easier to carry around.
The Apple iPad Pro 10.5 offers features like multi-window, which allow you to split your screen down so you can be doing two things are once, for example texting your friend but also watching a Fortnite video too.
Now with this iPad being a more premium tablet the types of people who tend to be buying this tablet are graphic designers, writers and video editors as it offers such a high spec.
If you’re not going to be using the iPad to its full potential then there are certainly other alternatives out there for a cheaper price, for example, the Apple iPad 9.7” 2018.
This is not a cheap Apple iPad Pro so we recommend checking out some of our other tablet reviews if you are looking for something on the cheaper side.
Apple iPad Pro 10.5 Review: Camera
This iPad Pro actually has a very respectable camera, although please don’t use it in the club for group shots, that’s definitely not cool.
So the camera used in this iPad is actually the same used in the iPhone 7.
The impressive 12MP f/1.8 aperture is more than capable of producing some great shots; it definitely puts any camera in any other iPad to shame!

All the more tempting to leave the house with this thing and start snapping some shots but remember it’s a tablet! Not a phone.
Dynamic range is great and the colour contrasts extremely well, this is ideal for taking photos of your pets or if you’re on holiday and want to take some shots by the pool! Don’t worry this tablet can survive a dunk in the pool too.
It is hard to make use out of the camera on a tablet as most people tend to use there phone but it’s nice to have a capable camera if for some reason you didn’t have your phone handy or it was out of charge.

The 7MP selfie camera is awesome too but be careful when having the flash on if taking a selfie as it is blinding!
Scanning files is great too, with the integration of IOS 11, this means you can simply take a photo of an important file, and the iPad will compile it into a neat and tidy section in your notes, making important documents easy to store.
Coupled with the awesome camera is the tablets ability to edit the photos that you take, this tablet has some incredible editing features that might be a little hard to handle if you’re not already familiar with image manipulation.
But if you’re a big Instagrammer or Snapchatter then this tablet will help you out big time!
The iPad Pro is also capable of shooting 4K video which is stunning and available to edit right away from the tablet, allowing instant access to some insane clips.
Apple iPad Pro 10.5 Review: Battery Life
Overall we had to real issues with the battery itself, as it will last easily 4 days of average usage but is said around 10 hours of screen on time.
That being said this does heavily depend on how you are using the iPad. If you are gaming a lot and watching high definition videos then, of course, this will drain the battery life more than just browsing through social media.
One downfall we had on the iPad is that it does take a while to charge, this is because of it using the same lightning cable as a regular phone and no fast charging being implemented.

- iOS 11 makes iPad more powerful, personal, and intelligent than ever
If you were to use this tablet as a replacement for a laptop replacement then you will generally find that the iPad will last you for around 6-7 hours.
The A10X chip that is inside of the tablet allows the iPad to be extremely efficient at conserving battery life when in standby, so you will find when you’re not using the iPad that it will hardly drain at all.
Apple iPad Pro 10.5 Review: Summary
Ultimately the Apple iPad Pro 10.5 is a stunning piece of kit and is ideal for those who require a lightweight and portable gadget to be able to instantly edit pictures or work from anywhere.
We would definitely recommend the Apple keyboard if purchasing this iPad as it makes it so much more usable and makes it a lot more like a laptop.
Of course, this is an expensive iPad but it is giving you the best of what Apple have to offer, a huge spec and a stunning display!
Capable of gaming, working and also taking stunning photos of the family.
This is definitely not a cheap Apple iPad Pro, but the value for money here is great, with a well-built design and some excellent high specs, we were impressed with this device.
Apple iPad Pro 10.5 inches WiFi (256GB, Space Gray) (Renewed)If your looking for a professional tablet that can keep up with your workload then this is definitely for you but if your looking for something a little cheaper and won’t make use of the iPad Pro’s huge spec, then check out our iPad 9.7” 2018 review.
